One can only imagine that Angel Valodia Matos’ mother had higher hopes for her son when she named him “Angel”. I could not believe what I was seeing and I still find it shocking when they replay the astonishing level of arrogance coming from this Cuban athlete. Who does this guy think he is? You would think someone at the Olympic level would have a very strong grasp of the rules of taekwondo. This was truly one of the most disturbing things I have ever watched at the Olympics. I seriously hope this guy now has some understanding of how incredibly stupid his actions were.. /end rant.
Its getting to the point where you cant even watch MTV anymore. Every hip hop video you see is full of sexual imagry. Now I know your all thinking “yeah whats new about that” Well .. theres nothing new about it I just think its pathetic and its not getting any better. Everyone knows sex sells but really.. where has the musical integrity gone? Theres so much crap being put out by the mainstream labels right now that its a wonder how some of them even get contracts. Mainly because most of it sounds the same. The same lyrics .. the same topics, the same clothes. Its just downright boring.
Yes I am one of those Christians who listens to a very select bit of mainstream secular music. But lately I find myself gravitating to the Christian hip hop genre simply because the level of new talent on the Christian scene is amazing.
Rappers like Lecrae and Trip Lee are taking the in your face gospel approach which I personally love. Because for these guys its not all about selling records .. its about reaching the lost. Remember .. ? the reason we go into “ministry” in the first place .. to tell people how awesome it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Remember! He’s the one who gave you the freedom you now have.
Seriously .. if your like me and your tired of the same old rubbish thats out there Check out some of the newschool Chrsitian hip hop thats coming out .. heres a few links to get you started ..

For those of you who do not know me I am a bit of a coffee nut .. and / or coffee snob. I rarely drink coffee from chains unless I know whos making the coffee. Anyway .. there’s a new cafe on Queen and Wharf street here in Brisbane called “Cremosa Espresso Bar” It is without a doubt the best Italian coffee in Brisbane .. strong and smooth at the same time.. its just amazing coffee. So go there and check it out when your in the city. – Pete
So its the day before the olympics and I cant wait for them to start so the hype on tv will settle down. I get the feeling that having the olympics in China is going to end up being not such a good idea. Here in Australia they take the olympics very seriously and they are forever comparing the olympics to the 2000 Sydney games which to be honest is getting a bit old. One can only hope that channel 7’s coverage will be better this time around. I’m going to get a tripple shot chino now.
