The quad stacker burger
For the past few days the new “quad stacker burger” from burger king aka hungry jacks here in Australia has been all over the media. I’ll skip all the trash talk and give you the new name I have come up with for this burger.
I am calling this burger “The HD burger” because it has 1080 calories. If thats not High Definition I dont know what is .. lol .. so there you go .. the worlds first HD burger!
Better hit the gym.

My testimony
Ok .. just a bit about me .. I was born in Calgary Alberta Canada and raised in Windsor Ontario Canada where I grew up. At the age of eight my family left the catholic church and started attending a pentecostal church called University Gospel Temple which is now called Parkwood Gosple Temple. Allthough growing up in the Assemblies of God church scene I’ve always considered myself non denominational. At the age of 17 I started getting heavily involved with in the local Christian music scene through my church and a few other local Christian music promoters. At the age of 22 my life changed dramatically when I met the woman whom I would spend the rest of my life with in a Christian chat room. The thing is at the time I had no idea what God was up to. After having a pretty rough year I was totally unaware that the girl from Australia that I met in that chat room would end up being my wife. To cut a long story short.. emails became phone calls .. the phone calls became a daily event and we quickly both realized that we were meant to be together .. even though at that point in our relationship we had not yet seen pictures of each other. One late evening I was at work talking to Joy long distance on my cell phone. I was really starting to feel the distance and was feeling quite depressed. It was that night that Joy proposed to me and I said yes without hesitation. Six months later we met for the very first time in Detroit airport.. it was an awesome day. Two weeks later we got married and after a one week honeymoon we jumped on a plane here to Brisbane Australia where we have been living for the past seven years .. and man has it been a very interesting seven years.
Ok picture this, your newly married to a woman you’ve only physically known for three weeks, your living in a new foreign country and just about everything feels turned upside down. Unfortunately for both myself and my new wife homesickness set in fairly quickly. Life in Australia isn’t much different from life in Canada but its different enough. There is a very unique mindset in Australia and it really took me about a year to really get a firm grasp on living in Australia. Thankfully it wasn’t long at all before I got involved in the Christian music scene here in Brisbane. After living in Brisbane for three years I fronted my first Christian hardcore band called “211 In Progress” which was an absolutely awesome experience. I was also heavily involved with a Christian music festival called Sonfest. Two years later I fronted a second Christian hardcore band called “Unified Front” Both of the bands eventually ended due to members moving on to other commitments. But it was definitely a great experience for me and it really got me hooked on doing more live music of various different styles. Through out all of this I slipped into a pretty severe depression which was something totally foreign to me. I thank God that he sent me a wife who stood by me through out that incredibly difficult season.
In December of 2006 we took a long overdue trip back to my hometown of Windsor Ontario (Canada). It was a trip I had been looking forward to for nearly seven years. Being able to see my family again was great and very therapeutic for me. It was not exactly what I thought it would be like being back in my hometown. A lot of my friends had moved on and I only got to catch up with a small handful of my close friends. When you spend several years away its truly strange to go back. Windsor was everything I had ever known but for the past seven years Brisbane Australia had slowly been becoming my home. It was incredibly difficult for me as I slowly but surely came to the realization that there really was nothing for me in Windsor anymore. I’m not saying we wont ever end up back in Canada because I strongly believe we will .. its just that right now I feel God has plans for us here in Brisbane. Over the month that we spent in Canada and through out our road trip through the states more and more I felt God speaking to me about really giving life in Brisbane a proper shot. We had been attending Brisbane City Church for the past year but had not really made any real effort to really connect with the church or make friends. On the final leg of our trip we spent a few days in Manhattan New York. It was there that God spoke to me clearly to go back to Brisbane and make a serious effort to get connected to the people within Brisbane City Church.
Getting off the plane in Brisbane I immediately felt a definite change .. I caught myself saying “man its good to be home” The realization of what that meant for me began to break me over the next few days. It was so hard to know what to feel. I felt like I was leaving my family and friends in Canada behind even though I knew I wasn’t. Within a week of being back in Brisbane God honored his words to me and things began to change quickly. Some friends of ours were taking over the worship team for Brisbane City Churches young adults group called “switch” In mid 2006 I had bought some DJ sampling gear but had not really put it to use yet. They asked me to be a part of a new ambient / house / funk worship project for young adults. From there we started attending a cell group for the first time and we immediately started connecting with people at church. For the first time in seven long years I can honestly say I am happy to be living in Australia and I am overjoyed to be out of what can best be called one of the most intense desert periods of my spiritual life. I cant begin to tell you how awesome it is to know that right now we are exactly where God wants us. I’ve learned a lot in the past seven years and I know I’ll never stop learning. I’ve never before had such an awesome sense that God is up to some seriously big things in my life and I know it only gets better from here. I’ll end this bio of me with a quote of mine that I do my best to live by “never set limitations on a God who knows no limits.”

Hey mate..
As an expat aussie now living in Canada, you post has inspired me to tell you about another HD burger Wendy’s has in North America. Not sure if it has reached you, but the latest craze is the baconator. Atop the beef ye will find SIX pieces of bacon. Heart attack on a bun!
Apparently to compensate for their new age salad menus fast food chains are attempting to fit as much ill health in on product as possible!
ps. I jsut read your “about” page. It would appear that we have the reverse life experience re: marriage and moving! interesting.
.. Haha .. good old Wendy’s .. more then anything though I miss Taco Bell.
