Ok .. I’m 32 years old now and I still love my hip hop .. but there’s a lot of “Christian” artists out there who write tracks that are more what I call “Christ in the code” then in your face Jesus music. I am at the point in my life where the music I listen to absolutly has to represent Jesus Christ 110%. This is why I am so excited about this latest release from Trip Lee because just like his last release “20/20″ is an unrelenting in your face album that hits on some serious issues faced by Christians.

Trip Lee 20/20

I’m gonna cut to the chase and talk about my favorite track on this album. Track four “Inexhaustible” touches on the complexity of the man Jesus and how there are some Christians out there who think they have God all figured out. This track is for all those people who think they’ve got God down. Aside from the awesome subject on this track the beat tied in with the samples is addictive. I find myself listening to it over and over again.

I strongly recommend you go out and buy this album .. put it in your car and on your ipod. 20/20 is like a great sermon you can listen to over and over again and get something new from God every time.

Review: Demon Hunter – Storm the gates of hell.

Ok so I needed an excuse to download a new album on itunes so I could load it on to my new Ipod Nano. So what better choice then the new release by Demon Hunter “Storm the gates of hell” The title is very in your face which is just the way I like it. Demon Hunter are one of the few Christian hardcore bands really standing up for what they believe in and aren’t afraid to address the hard issues. For a hardcore album this is a particularly radio friendly release.. and yet the still managed to write squeeze in some brutally heavy tracks. The album starts off with the title track “storm the gates of hell” which is a straight up hardcore track with some seriously brutal new screams not previously heard from the DH crew. Track 2 is called “lead us home” at this point I was already hooked on this album and would have bought it for these first two tracks alone. And then they go in a different direction with “sixteen” which is a half and half mix of melodic ballad and pure metal.. one of my favorite tracks. A few tracks down the list is “thorns” which has a very fitting piano / guitar opening .. its a very different track for demon hunter .. but somehow it works. Just when you think your all chilled out by “thorns” the follow it up with “follow the wolves” another straight hardcore that just leaves you wanting more. “Fiction kingdom” and “The wrath of God” classic demon hunter with a new twist. This album is a must have for hardcore fans. Thank you demon hunter for writing another honest and up front album. Cant wait to take this album to the gym. 10 out of 10.
